Planning for growth - is it worth choosing a VPS provider in advance?

Hi everyone,
I’m currently working on a project that’s still relatively small, but there’s a chance it could grow quite fast in the next few months. I’d prefer to avoid migration later, so I’m considering going straight to a VPS instead of shared hosting.

One thing I’m trying to understand is how flexible VPS providers really are when it comes to scaling resources. For example, if traffic suddenly spikes, is it actually realistic to increase CPU/RAM without downtime or complicated procedures?

I’ve heard from a friend that with some providers like Hostpro.com, you can scale resources pretty easily, even mentioning something about rebooting the server’s virtual shell to apply changes. Not sure how accurate that is in real-world usage.

Would appreciate hearing from people who’ve dealt with similar growth scenarios - does it make sense to plan ahead with VPS, or is it overkill early on?

  • Let me share a practical observation from my hosting history hostpro.com has been a reliable workhorse. Their system performs daily backups on every hosted service, which allowed me to recover cleanly after a hacking attempt that deleted key files. I’ve also contacted their 24/7 support multiple times, and each time they resolved the issue at no cost, even with complex questions.
