How Much Bandwidth Does a New Forum Need?

edited April 1 in General Talks

Hello everyone, I’m trying to estimate hosting costs before launching my forum. If I have around 50–100 daily visitors, how much monthly bandwidth would I need? Does forum software use a lot of server resources? Any reviews on Regvps.com or other hosting solutions? What host would you choose? Any beginner tips would be appreciated.

  • For 50–100 daily visitors, bandwidth usage will be quite modest. A typical forum user may generate a few MB per session, but forums tend to use more data than simple blogs due to dynamic content and multiple page views. In practice, that usually means something like ~10–30GB per month is already enough for a small forum, depending on images and attachments. Forum software itself isn’t very heavy, but it does rely on database queries, so RAM and disk speed matter more than bandwidth.

If you want something simple and stable without worrying about scaling too early, VPS setups like hostpro.com are a safe choice - NVMe storage helps with database performance, and daily backups with retention make it easier to recover if something goes wrong.

  • You can rely on Rightservers.com VPS solutions. No slowdowns, just pure power!
The user-friendly interface is perfect for beginners and experienced developers alike.
I appreciate the 24/7 live chat support, which always provides clear and helpful guidance.

  • Check out deals from a solid company, I mean hostingsource.com.
These people are very patient and assist wherever they can. A Pleasure to deal with and highly recommended.
